Dream Again

Just Like Starting Over
It’s never too late to be what you might have been." George Eliot

Maybe you’ve given up pursuing your dream because of a past failure? Perhaps you struggle with depression because you never went after your dream in the first place, and now you feel you’ve missed your window of opportunity? Or perhaps due to a past mistake you feel out of the race entirely?

I offer you hope because honestly, no matter what your story is, it’s never to late to begin again. Perhaps the dream you held in your heart is no longer possible because of your age; perhaps you did in fact miss that window of opportunity. No problem! Remember, you still have skills, gifts, talents and past experiences that are valuable – assets that could be used to birth a new dream.

No matter how old you are you can always dream new dreams that are age appropriate for the season of life you’re in now. If you’re willing to move forward in spite of the disappointments, setbacks and failures of your past, you will discover a new future filled with all kinds of possibilities.

Life brings disappointment to all of us and failure is really only a temporary state of being. What cements its permanency is giving in to the negativity that they bring, and allowing these failures to negatively affect our lives. The great American poet, John Greenleaf Whittier, wrote, “For all sad words of tongue and pen, the saddest are these: ‘It might have been.’“

Let these words speak to you; don’t give up hope and the belief that something good still awaits you in the future! Your faith is perhaps the greatest commodity you have so don’t throw yours away.

Forget the past and ask God to give you a vision and dream for new things. It might encourage you to know that Mother Teresa wasn’t honored with a Nobel Peace Prize for her work with the poor in India until she was 69. So it’s really never too late to make a difference.

The only thing that can disqualify you from dreaming a new dream is death, and, giving the fact that you are reading this, you’re obviously quite alive. Choose to come alive again, and boldly go after the new future that awaits you!
